The 2019 partypoker LIVE Caribbean Poker Party is going to be nothing short of incredible if the opening day is anything to base judgement on. Three huge events kicked off and the poker room at the Baha Mar Resort was packed with some of the world’s elite poker players. Here’s how Day 1 went down.

Jouhkimainen, Filatov and Bicknell Bag in the High Roller

Forty-four players made it through Day 1 of the $10,300 MILLIONS High Roller from a field of 54. With $1 million guaranteed, there’s a ton of value awaiting anyone who buys in on Day 2 that stars at 14:00 local time.

Kristen Bicknell finished Day 1 in the middle of the pack after bagging up 1,290,000 chips at the close of play. Bicknell recently won a $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em event at the 2019 Poker Masters for a career-best $408,000 and is gunning for more glory in this event.

Bicknell’s teammate Anatoly Filatov also punched his Day 2 ticket and returns to the fray armed with 928,000 chips, good for 58 big blinds and 34th place at the restart. Filatov is also in superb form coming off the back of a third-place finish in a €100,000 Super High Roller event at the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe festival for more than a million dollars.

Scores of big names are also through to Sunday’s Day 2. These include Manig Loeser, Rainer Kempe, Peter Jetten, Andras Nemeth, and Ema Zajmovic.

Leading the way is Spain’s Javier Alonso who finished Day 1 with 3,385,000 chips. The Spaniard is closely followed by Jack Sinclair and our very own Joni Jouhkimainen who has 2,930,000 chips at his disposal. Jouhkimainen padded his bankroll with €63,200 in September when he took down a €5,100 event in his native Helsinki. Now he has the chance of glory in The Bahamas.
